Spanaway is located on the east boundary of McChord Air Force Base and Fort Lewis Army Post, 15 miles south of Tacoma on State Road 7. Spanaway is a historic community established in 1890. More information about Spanaway.

Spanaway Park is a 135 acre park on Spanaway Lake. The park has swimming beaches, a boat launch, a fishing pier, trails, playground equipment, softball fields, basketball courts, and picnic areas. The park has five picnic shelters available to reserve for events. The largest picnic shelter and its surrounding area accommodates up to 300 people.
